Written On The Wind [part 2]

Yes, cowboys are now officially out of my system, at least for the time being (the Mexican rodeo clown I shot about a month ago has yet to see the light of day, nor have the Times Square cowboy hustlers….in due time).  Before moving on to some experiments in color, I wanted to flesh out my fictional black & white, Dreyer-directed Western with Kevin Freed, a new face from Vision.

Kevin had flown in to LA the day before we shot, after an awesome 4-day shoot with Bruce Weber.  That alone was an impossibly tough act to follow, and extreme equipment malfunctions only made matters more complicated.  In spite of my barely-concealed panic, Kevin (tall, tanned, freckled and everything else you’d expect from a Bruce Weber model) was cool as a cucumber, and once we finally got rolling, we flew through the shots.  That is, until Sandy showed up (she had a hard time hitting her mark). Woof.
